Ride the mini trains for free this weekend

Just now I saw a news, a good news, it said as the following:

It’s that time of the month again: mini train weekend at Largo Central Park!
Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6, everyone ages 1 and older can ride the mini trains for free, weather permitting. Pregnant women are not allowed to ride due to insurance regulations.
The event regularly takes place on the first full weekend of each month and is approximately 1.2 miles long, winding through the landscape and various features of the park. Rides are given until 4 p.m., weather permitting.
The mini train rides are free, but they do accept donations to keep the program operating.
The next free train rides weekend will be Oct. 3 and 4.
Largo Central Park is located at 101 Central Park Dr., Largo.

When I read the news, I feel both happy and sad. The happy reason is that there should be free train ride for kids, though I'm not kids any more. Why I'm so sad? it's because I'm in China, its so far away from Largo Central Park, so I have no opportunity to attend it. it's really a pity. However, on the other hand, our manufacturer, Hotfun Park Rides Manufacturer, will manufacture various types of amusement park rides, especially kids rides, I can ride them when the running test. Surely it's free also. Haha, suddenly I feel I'm so lucky!

At last, welcome you come to visit our factory, hope we have opportunity to cooperate! By the way, any kid who lives near to Largo Central Park don't forget to ride the free trains!

Character kiddie rides

In many cases, kiddie rides in the likes of famous cartoon characters or objects from TV shows or movies can be also found, usually at bigger shopping malls that can afford them due to the higher purchasing costs. A classic example would be the Batmobile ride mentioned earlier. One model looks like a miniature Batmobile on a stand, and occasionally flashes lights and plays a short tune from a Batman movie at set intervals.

Another example of a character kiddie ride would be a Clifford the Big Red Dog kiddie ride, manufactured by Jolly Roger Ltd of the United Kingdom and licensed by Scholastic UK. The ride costs around US$5000 purchased new. It talks in a girl's voice (presumably the voice of Emily Elizabeth) and plays the theme song from the PBS KidsTV series when it is ridden. A button to make Clifford bark also exists on the ride. Another is a Bob the Builder ride, which features Bob climbing onto Scoop with 4 sounds (made in 1998) (another version has got Roley with 3 phrases (made in 2003), the Scoop version has Pilchard in his shovel). Including a Mario Kart ride manufactured by OMC Electronics Ltd. of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire and licensed to Nintendo which features Mario climbing on the back of the kid's seat. Also, Merkur Kids, the German manufactuer has made a Cars ride where it features Lightning McQueen with brake and accelerate pedals, a green button (does a horn) and a yellow button (to hear Luigi say "You are a famous race car, a real race car", while they also made another Lightning McQueen ride but in Dinoco, and Mater. Thomas has been made as a kiddie ride with 4 push buttons which do "You're a really useful engine" (Thomas: blue), "I need you to help the other engines" (The Fat Controller: yellow), a whistle sound (James: red) and a steam sound (Percy: green). Jolly Roger Ltd also made him as another ride, also with a video available plays the theme tune and a red push button to blow Thomas' whistle. Including a Dora the Explorer ride manufactured by Polifibra Spain. Kaede minani ride manufactured by Italy. Hatsune Miku ride manufactured by Spain, Portugal and China. Aircraft ride manufactured by Hot Fun Park Rides Manufacture Co., Ltd, China.

Character rides costs much more than generic rides when purchased new. The higher cost stems from the royalty of the voice samples and theme song as well as character licensing fees.

Knockoff rides that feature figures that look like those of famous cartoon characters exist. commonly knocked off characters include: Pikachu from Pokémon, Disney's Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, and Hello Kitty. They are cheaper than real licensed rides, and are typically found at smaller establishments. However, as the name suggests, they are not licensed, and in certain areas with high intellectual property rights recognition, purchasers of knockoff rides can potentially get themselves entangled with legal complications. Furthermore, the ride figure might not be designed to look as close to a licensed character compared to genuinely licensed rides, possibly resulting in diminished recognition.

Kiddie ride - coin operated kiddie rides

A kiddie ride - or kids' ride - is a coin-operated amusement ride for small children. Kiddie rides are commonly available in amusement parks, arcades, malls, hotel game rooms and outside supermarkets and discount department stores. Less commonly, they may also appear in other venues such as restaurants, food courts, grocery shops and auto dealerships. When activated by a coin, a kiddie ride entertains the rider with motion, depending on the ride type (miniature Ferris wheel, miniature carousel, miniature train ride or stationary platform ride). Most rides include sounds and music, and some feature flashing lights, pedals, and buttons. Commercial kiddie rides often use simple but colorful equipment, with the driving mechanism usually hidden under vacuum formed plastic covers.

The History of Roller Coaster

Russian mountain

The oldest roller coasters are believed to have originated from the so-called "Russian Mountains", which were specially constructed hills of ice, located especially around Saint Petersburg. Built in the 17th century, the slides were built to a height of between 21 and 24 m (70 and 80 feet), consisted of a 50 degree drop, and were reinforced by wooden supports.

Some historians say the first roller coaster - thrill rides was built under the orders of Russia's Catherine the Great in the Gardens of Oranienbaum in Saint Petersburg in the year 1784. Other historians believe that the first modern roller coaster was built by the French. The Promenades Aeriennes in Parc Baujon and the Les Montagnes Russes à Belleville (The Russian Mountains of Belleville) were both constructed in Paris in 1817 and both featured wheeled cars securely locked to the track, guide rails to keep them on course, and higher speeds.

The name Russian Mountains to designate a roller coaster ride is preserved in most Latin languages. However, the Russian term for roller coasters is "американские горки" ("amerikanskiye gorki"), which means "American Mountains".

Scenic gravity railroads

Thompson's Switchback Railway, 1884.
In 1827, a mining company in Summit Hill, Pennsylvania constructed the Mauch Chunk gravity railroad, an 8.7-mile (14.0 km) downhill track used to deliver coal to Mauch Chunk (now known as Jim Thorpe), Pennsylvania. By the 1850s, the "Gravity Road" (as it became known) was providing rides to thrill-seekers for 50 cents a ride. Railway companies used similar tracks to provide amusement on days when ridership was low.

Using this idea as a basis, LaMarcus Adna Thompson began work on a gravity Switchback Railway that opened at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York in 1884. Passengers climbed to the top of a platform and rode a bench-like car down the 600-foot (180 m) track up to the top of another tower where the vehicle was switched to a return track and the passengers took the return trip. This track design was soon replaced with an oval complete circuit. In 1885, Phillip Hinkle introduced the first full-circuit coaster with a lift hill, the Gravity Pleasure Road, which was soon the most popular attraction at Coney Island. Not to be outdone, in 1886 LaMarcus Adna Thompson patented his design of roller coaster that included dark tunnels with painted scenery. "Scenic Railways" were to be found in amusement parks across the county, with Frederick Ingersoll's construction company building many of them in the first two decades of the 20th century.
Popularity, decline and revival

By 1919, the first underfriction roller coaster funfair rides had been developed by John Miller. Soon, roller coasters spread to amusement parks all around the world. Perhaps the best known historical roller coaster, The Cyclone, was opened at Coney Island in 1927.

The Great Depression marked the end of the first golden age of roller coasters, and amusement parks in general went into decline. This lasted until 1972, when The Racer was built at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio (near Cincinnati). Designed by John Allen, the instant success of The Racer began a second golden age, which has continued to this day.

Steel roller coasters

In 1959 Disneyland introduced a new design breakthrough with Matterhorn Bobsleds. This was the first roller coaster to use a tubular steel track. Unlike wooden coaster rails, which are generally formed using steel strips mounted on laminated wood, tubular steel can be easily bent in any direction, which allows designers to incorporate loops, corkscrews, and many other maneuvers into their designs. Most modern roller coasters are made of steel, although wooden coasters are still being built.

History of Bumper Boats

Bumper boats are similar in concept to the much older and more ubiquitous bumper cars. Like bumper boats, the point of bumper cars is to collide with other cars. Bumper cars date to the early 1920s. Bumper car collisions tend to be more jarring than bumper boats.

Arrow Development Company, later known as Arrow Dynamics, was the original maker and patent owner of the bumper boats ride. Arrow was founded in 1946 by Edward Morgan and Karl Bacon as a builder of carousels and other rides. The company's fortunes took off when Walt Disney hired it to build many of Disneyland's original rides, such as Snow White's Adventures and Casey Junior Circus Train. The company gradually became mostly a roller coaster maker over the years. It went bankrupt in 2001. Rival ride maker S&S Power bought Arrow that year and maintains S&S Arrow as a division today. It primarily makes roller coasters.

Another idea spawned during the decade of the 1930s was the "Dodgem Motor Boats." Like the Dodgem car, the boats were operator driven and seated two adults. As the Dodgem car had given many a first opportunity to "get behind the wheel of a car," so the boats gave many their first chance to operate a powerboat. Streamlined and slick in appearance, the powerboats were designed to give both driver and passenger the feeling of a luxury ride in a lake or lagoon.

A brief eyewitness description of the boats constructed for this new ride was written in July 1932:

Visited Amesbury with Markey and looked over his new Dodgem boat which is a very nice looking job. It is considerably longer than the water skooter made by Lusse and built on a different principal. These are made all of wood. This, if it operates satisfactorily, should prove a very nice boat.

Certainly the most elaborate early boat installation was done for the Chicago World's Fair in 1933. Another elaborate and memorable Dodgem boat installation was constructed six years later for the 1939 New York World's Fair. For this national event, the Dodgem Corporation teamed up with the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC). Not only did they jointly operate a boat ride but also two Dodgem car rides. Both Dodgem and PTC were to have equal shares. Two buildings valued at $27,500 were to be put up by and mortgaged to the PTC, and Dodgem was to supply fifty cars valued at $20,000. For the boat ride, PTC was apparently responsible for the construction of a channel. How many boats were constructed or how profitable the three rides were is unclear.

As to the popularity of boat rides, William Ford, who worked for Lusse Company after the boat craze had passed, reported:

They [boat rides] were very popular up to and after the second world war when operators wanted more space and had to get rid of the required lakes and artificial lagoons. Also, the price of gas went up as well as anti-pollution laws, which were forced on them [park owners] because of the filthy water that was in the lagoons. . . .

Evidence suggests that Dodgem was out of the boat business by the time of the war. An expensive ride to install, outfit, and maintain, especially if a man-made lagoon was required, Dodgem motorboats were not destined to be the stellar performers that the cars proved to be.

Elaborate boat rides would not return to the amusement park scene until Walt Disney and the development of theme parks in the late 1950s and early 1960s began to bring the likes of paddle wheelers and other large craft back to grand-scale manmade waterways.

Besides, today, the Kids bumper boat manufactured by Hotfun Park Rides (China) is also very popular, for its good quality and competitive price. If you are interested in it, you can email to sales@chinaparkrides.com, or search on its web: www.chinaparkrides.com

Bumper Boat Invention And Today

Bumper boat invention

Edward A. Morgan, co-founder of amusement park ride manufacturer Arrow Development Company, invented bumper boats in the early 1970s. Morgan applied for a U.S. patent on the ride in 1972. The U.S. government granted the patent in 1974. The patent includes detailed design and construction guidelines, including a maximum speed of four miles per hour and circular shock absorbers around the boat to protect riders

Bumper boats today

Several companies still make bumper boats today. These companies include J&J Amusements, Foster Manufacturing Corporation, Hotfun Park Rides Manufacturer and Bumper Boats Inc. Today's bumper boats include some added features, such as mounted water guns for shooting opposing boat drivers.

Bumper Boats, Kids Bumper Boats for sale

Bumper boats are an amusement park ride that uses inner tube shaped water craft that can be steered by the rider. Some are driven by electric motors, some by gasoline engines, and some require the rider to propel the craft by pedaling. Most are equipped with water guns for duels with other riders. Bumper boat attractions can commonly be found in places such as amusement parks, carnivals, fairs, family fun centers, and theme parks.

Description

Bumper boats are an amusement ride in which people drive tiny boats in a pool or pond and try to crash into each other for fun. In a patent application related to the ride, its inventor wrote, "one of the thrills of operating amusement park boats of this type is to initiate collisions with other similar boat within a relatively confined pool." The kids bumper boats can hold one or two people and have over-sized fenders that resemble the inner tube of a large tractor tire inner tube. The boats are powered by either electric or gasoline engines.

Dallas Fun: Train Rides For Kids

Like many little boys, my son is obsessed with all things train-related.  Thanks to the Dallas and Hot Fun Park Rides, we often see “Thomas the Train” (aka the DART rail) when we are out running errands.
Have you ever taken your children on any of the area train systems just for the heck of riding a train? We do. The DFW metroplex has many, many train rides for kids options.
Here is a compiled list of the best kids train rides in the Dallas area:
1.  Grapevine Vintage Railroad – The oldest continuously operating steam engine in the South resides in our very own backyard and regularly travels between downtown Grapevine and the Fort Worth Stockyards.  The Vintage Railroad is family-focused with special theme park rides like a Halloween Scream Train during Halloween and the North Pole Express during Christmas.
2.  McKinney Avenue Trolley – This trolley is probably my favorite train option.  Why? Because it’s free(!) and conveniently located in Uptown.  The trolleys are restored vintage trolleys that run along Mckinney Avenue.  Looking for a half-day activity?  Park your car at the West Village in Uptown, ride the trolley down to the Klyde Warren Park for playtime and a picnic lunch, then hop back on the trolley to retrieve your car.
3.  The DART Rail – Sure, the DART Rail is a main mode of transportation for many.  But for my son, it’s a big outing.  We’ve parked our car at Mockingbird Station and caught the DART to go downtown and have lunch with daddy before.  The DART is also a convenient option to take to the zoo, American Airlines Center, downtown Plano or the State Fair when parking is expensive and limited.
4.  The TRE – Did you know there is a train that services downtown Dallas to downtown Fort Worth? My mom works in downtown Fort Worth, so we love to take the train to visit her.  The best part about it? Free wi-fi!  My son loves the kids ride on train and I love to browse the internet on my laptop instead of commuting to Fort Worth in traffic.  It’s a win-win for both of us. A day-pass is $10/adults, $5/children if you are going all the way to Fort Worth.  Again, children under 5 are free.
5.  The Dallas Zoo Monorail – Are you worried your child may not have the attention span for some of the longer local trains?  Have you checked out the monorail at the Dallas Zoo? This 20-minute ride thru the Wilds of Africa exhibit is a great entry ride where some of the zoo’s most exotic animals are viewed in their natural habitats.  Monorail tickets are an additional $3/rider on top of the zoo entry admission.
6.  Forest Park Miniature Railroad – If you are looking for more of a nostalgic experience, the Forest Park train in Fort Worth (right by the Fort Worth zoo) might be your answer.  The miniature trains boasts a conductor dressed in railroad stripes and has been a local staple since 1959.
